Hesse the glass bead game5/12/2023 The Book “Glass Bead Game” is a fascinating prophesy of modern life as well as a classic of Jungian influenced literature. The novel takes place in the distant the future, in a world that has passed beyond what is described as the feuilletonistic age (that is, of course the postmodern and post-metaphysical society) in which culture is trivialized and no difference exits between truth and lies anymore. Hesse describes the rules as such: „ These rules, the sign language and grammar of the game, represent a kind of highly developed secret language, in which several sciences and arts, in particular mathematics and music (or the science of music) participate which are able to express the contents and results of practically all of the sciences and relate them to each other.“ It occurred to me, that the purpose (or curiosity) of some my activities in the blogshhere is devoted to relate different topics too. It thus aims towards all those fields of the sciences and arts which are available as the inventory of human orientation. Its length is not prohibitive but the paragraphs are all dense and descriptive. This essay will mainly focus on the Glass Bead Game, which encompasses all intellectual and mental activity of humans within the worldly environment. The book, also published under the title ” Magister Ludi”, after its principal character, is a beautiful but not an easy read. Dark wizard by jeffe kennedy5/12/2023 Wizards wield magic, while familiars are essentially the batteries that fuel their magic. So you will lose a lot of nuance and context by skipping BoM.īackground into the world: In short, those with magic are either wizards or familiars. While Kennedy does a great job weaving background info into the first couple chapters, there is a great deal of world building, secondary character development and overarching plots in the series. It could possibly be read as a stand alone, but I would highly recommend reading Bonds of Magic trilogy before picking it up. Shadow Wizard picks right up where Grey Magic left off, only now we are following a romance between Selly and Jadren. So I was really excited to get my hands on the next entry to this world. It ended up being my favorite read of the year! Adult fantasy romance political machinations fantastic world building intelligent female characters steamy scenes and cool magic system. Zodiac academy the awakening book buy5/11/2023 Vampires bite weaker students in the corridors, the Werewolf pack has orgies in the Wailing Wood at every full moon and don't even get me started on the dark and twisted ways the Sirens use their powers on people's emotions, or how my sinfully tempting Cardinal Magic teacher hosts detentions that leave people needing therapy.Ĭlasses are totally interesting if you manage to live through them. The school they've sent me to is both dangerous as sh*t and one helluva party. But the bit they didn't put in the brochure was that every single Fae in this Kingdom would claim my throne if they could. And sure, technically that's true as I'm the daughter of the Savage King. And it turns out, I'm Fae.īut of course there's a catch - all I have to do to claim my birth right is prove that I'm the most powerful supernatural in the whole of Solaria.
